Animal Habitats

Directions:

Cover a classroom paper with a sheet of paper and seperate the sheet into different habitats (color one part blue for ocean, brown ground for desert, tree for rainforest, etc.) Provide your children with a variety of animals (plastic or paper) and have them put the animals into their correct habitats.



How Tall and Heavy is an Elephant

Directions:

Before beginning cut an elephant shape out of bulletin board paper and attch it to your all. On the elephant write "The average baby elephant weighs 232 pounds and is 35 inches." weigh and measure all of your children to see how many of them it takes to equal the size of a baby elephant.



Animals in Cages

Directions:

Set out strawberry baskets and animal crackers. Place a piece of tape with a number on it on top of eah basket and have your children place that many animals into the cage (basket.)



Animal Prints Bulletin Board

Directions:

Make an interactive bulletin board to help your class match zoo animals to their prints. Attach pictures of 5 zoo animals with distinct prints (flamingo, gorilla, lion, elephant, turtle) onto one side of the board. On the other side of the board in a different order attch the prints. Have your children use yarn to connect the correct print to animal.



Classroom Observatory

What To Do

If you have a window in your classroom set up an observatory next to it. Place binoculars and bird, insect, and animal books next to the window so that your students can view real birds. See if you can see any of the animals that they have at the zoo!
