Heart Rubbing

Materials:

  • Sandpaper
  • Poster Board
  • Glue Gun
  • Crayons
  • Thin Paper

Directions:

  • Before the children arrive use a glue gun to trace hearts of different sizes onto a piece of poster board. Have your children place a piece of thin paper over the hearts and rub it with a crayon. They will be amazed when hearts appear on their paper. You can also cut out hearts from sandpaper and tape to a pice of poster board. Have your children place a piece of thin paper over the board and rub with a crayon. They will trace a beautiful bumpy valentines day heart


Valentine Carnation

Directions:

  • Put one white carnation flower per child in a cup of red water (water with red food coloring) over a few days the carnation will begin to turn red, and continue turning as long as it is in the water. Let your children take home their flower on Friday to share with their families.


Valentines

Five red valentines day waiting in the store,
Father bought a valentine then there were 4.
Four red valentines beautiful to see,
Mother bought a valentine and then there were 3.
Three red valentines lacy, white, and new,
Teacher bought a valentine and then there were 2.
Two red valentines full of love and fun,
My friend bought a valentine and then there was 1.
One lovely valentine, Oh how i did run,
To buy that last red valentine and now there are none.



My Heartbeat

Directions:

  • Obtain cheap stethoscopes or make your own (tissue rolls). Let your children listen to each other heartbeats. Then have them exercise for a few minutes and listen to each other heartbeats again. See if they can tell a difference
