Shape Tracing
Materials:
- Shape Stencils
- Safety Scissors
- Pencils
- Construction Paper
Directions:
- Provide your children with simple shape stencils, made from poster board. Have your children pick a shape, trace it and then cut it out.
Shape Bottles
Directions:
- Fill water bottels half way full with sand. Add different shaped object to the mix. Shake it up to hide the objects. Have your children shake the bottle to reveal different shaped objects.
Circle Song
(to the tune of: Have you ever seen a lassie)Have you ever seen a circle, a circle, a circle?
Have you ever seen a circle, which goes round and round?
It rolls this way and that way, And that way and this way.
Have you ever seen a circle, which goes round and round?
Shape Necklaces
Directions:
- Cut out small shapes from foam and punch a hole in the center of the shape. Give your children the shapes, cut up straws, and lanyard string. ahve them thread the shapes and straws on the string to make a necklace. While they are stringing help them to identify the shapes.
