Musical Shapes
Directions:
- Cut out five different shapes (one per child), big enough for your children
to stand on. Spread the shapes out on the floor. Turn on music and have
your children dance around. When the music stops yell out a shape, you
may want to hold up an example too, tell your children to hurry and find
that shape to stand on. Repeat until you have done every shape.
Shape Lacing
Directions:
- Cut out different shapes from posterboard and punch holes around the edge.
Have your children practice lacing around the shapes with yarn, (wrap tape
around the lacing end of the yarn.)
Play Dough Shapes
Directions:
- Set out play dough and different shaped cookie cutters.
Shape Necklaces
Directions:
- Cut out small shapes from foam and punch a hole in the center of the shape.
Give your children the shapes, cut up straws, and lanyard string. ahve them
thread the shapes and straws on the string to make a necklace. While they
are stringing help them to identify the shapes.
Shape Hunt
Directions:
- Go on a shape hunt with your classroom. Have your childeren help you look
for certain shapes in the classroom.
