Rainbow Fish
(to be done while reading Rainbow Fish Book)
Materials:
  • Poster Board or Construction Paper
  • Tissue Paper
  • Googly Eyes
  • Aluminum Foil (For Shiny Gills)
  • Paint
  • Glitter
  • Cotton Balls or Cutup Paper
  • Glue
Directions:
  • First Read the Book and then let your kids design their own rainbow fish.

How Long is a Whale
Ask your kids how long they think the largest creature in the world is. Then get a long rope (about 100 feet) and have them unwind it. They will be amazed at how long a blue whale is. Next ask them how many of their lengths it would take to make a blue whale (You can actually do this if you have the time)

Fishy Pokey
(Sung to: "Hokey Pokey") Put your left fin in, take your left fin out
You do the fishy pokey and you turn yourself around that's what its all about
Put your right gill in, take your right gill out (etc.)

Fish Puppets
Staple two large paper plates together (where the eating surfaces are facing) leaving an unstapled place large enough for a hand. Staple two small plates to each side of this opening (each plate is stapled to only one plate) Cut out a wedge from each of the small plates (to make this look like a tail) and curve them outward. Now let your children stick their hand through the fishes tail and use it as a puppet. Note: You can also let them decorate these anyway that they want.
