Yarn Pumpkins
Materials:
  • Balloons
  • Orange yarn
  • Glue
  • Water
  • Construction paper cut into pumpkin features
What to do
  • Blow up a round balloon. Dip about 2 yards of orange yarn into a mixture of one part glue and one part water. Wrap the yarn around the balloon until it is completely covered. When the glue is dry, pop the balloon and then remove it. Finally glue construction paper features onto the pumpkin.


Weigh a pumpkin
Bring in a bathroom scale and pumpkins of different sizes. Have your children estimate the weights of the pumpkins. Weigh the pumpkins and compare their weight to the guesses. You can also weigh ypur children and see if the are heavier or lighter than the pumpkins.


Five Little Pumpkins

The second one said "there's a chill in the air," (hug self)
The third one said "but we don't care," (shrug)
The fourth one said "we're ready for some fun," (jump)
The fifth one said "lets run, run, run," (run in place)
So woo went the wind, and out went the lights,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight (sit down).

Pumpkin Pie Playdough
Ingredients:
  • 5 1/2 C Flour
  • 2 C salt
  • 8 t Cream of Tartar
  • 3/4 C oil
  • 1 1/2 ounces pumpkin pie spice
  • orange food coloring
  • 4 C water
Directions:
  • Mix all ingredients together. Cook and stir over medium heat until lumps disappear. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth. Store in an airtight container.
