Pumpkin Pounding
Put seasonal squash and pumpkins into the woodworking area. Provide safety goggles,
small mallets or hammers, and golf tees. Have the children hammer the golf tees
into the pumpkin or squash. When it begins to fall apart, cut it into pieces
and remove the seeds. Let the children continue to use the tees to work with
the pumkin pieces.
Pumpkin Pie Playdough
Ingredients:
- 5 1/2 C Flour
- 2 C salt
- 8 t Cream of Tartar
- 3/4 C oil
- 1 1/2 ounces pumpkin pie spice
- orange food coloring
- 4 C water
- Mix all ingredients together. Cook and stir over medium heat until lumps disappear. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth. Store in an airtight container.
Magic Pumpkin Seeds
Show your class a bag of pumpkin seeds and tell them you think they are magic
pumpkin seeds. Take you class outto the playground and have them toss the pumpkin
seeds onto the grouns. The next day, before your children arrive place small
pumpkins where the seeds were. Take your class outside to see their magical
pumpkins.Let your children take the pumpkins home with them.

Arrange for your class to visit a local pumpkin patch
Traingle tracing
Before your children arrive use a glue gun to draw different sized triangles
onto white construction paper. Have your children rub the construction paper
with the crayons to reveal surprise shapes
