Leaf Rubbings
Materials:
  • Firm Leaves
  • Crayons without paper wrapper
  • Copy paper
  • Scotch tape
Directions:
  • Place a small piece of tape on the underside of leaves and tape to table. Place the paper over the leaves and rub the side of the crayon over the paper. The leaves shape and features will appear. You may want to tape the paper down too for younger children.

Nature Walk
Provide each child in your class with a paper bag. Take your class outside to collect leaves and different objects from nature. Group time is a great time to discuss what each child found and how the objects relate to fall and nature.

Up on the Treetop
(to the tune of "Up on the Housetop") Up on the treetop
Watch the leaves.
They are changing.
You can see.
Red and orange,
Yellow and brown.
Pretty soon they'll all fall down.

Cruch, crunch, crunch!
Walk through the leaves.
Crunch, crucnch, crunch!
Walk through the leaves.
Up on the treetop
In the fall,
Leaves are changing
Watch them all!

Nature Bracelets
Wrap a piece of masking tape around each childs wrist sticky side out before going outside. Have your children stick nature pieces to it as they find them outside.
