Nature Walk
Provide each child in your class with a paper bag. Take your class outside to
collect leaves and different objects from nature. Group time is a great time
to discuss what each child found and how the objects relate to fall and nature.
Sort Leaves
Collect different color leaves with or without your children. Spread the leaves
out on the table and have your children sort them. They can sort by shape, color,
or size.
Leaf puzzles
Trace large leaves onto a piece of paper. After tracing the leaves laminate
them or put them in between two sheets of contact paper and then cut them out.
Encourage your children to match the leaves to the shapes you have traced on
the paper.
Leaf Graph
After collecting leaves with your class create a graph. Some graphing ideas
are color, number of sides the leaf has, and size. Hang the grap and some leaves
up for everyone to enjoy.
Fall Water table
Fill your water table with different fall items (leaves, acorns, pinecones,
hay, etc.)
