Chalk Dance Art
Materials:
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Music
Directions:
  • Take your children outside. Play music and challenge them to use sidewalk chalk and draw the music. Another alternative is to give them the chalk and tell them to hold it on the sidewalk as they dance.

Hear that Music
Let your children see how many different kinds of music there are. Play it for them and let them act our the part (for country wear cowboy hats, for 80's big hair, etc.)

Hear Song
Oh, with your ears what do you hear?
Oh, with your ears what do you hear?
Oh, tell me what do you hear with your ear? (let children answer)
Oh, with your ears what do you hear?

Sound Walk and Tape
Take a walk with the children around the school, outside, or anywhere with a variety of sounds. Bring either a tape recorder or a notepad and record the sounds that you hear. When you get back to the classroom have the children mimic the sounds that they heard.
Sound Tape
Make a tape of various sounds around your home, classroom, or anyplace with a lot of sounds. Play the tape for your children and let them try to identify the sounds.
