Family Collages
Materials:
- Magazines (parenting magazines are great)
- Glue
- Construction paper
- Safety Scissors
- Encourage your children to go through magazines and cut or tear out pictures to represent everyone in their family. After they have glued the pictures on, ask your children to name the family members and label under each pictures.
Color Mixing
Directions:
- Fill freezer sized Ziploc bags with shaving cream. Select two colors of food coloring that will make a new color (ex. Red and yellow) squirt a few drops of each color into the bag and seal it shut with tape. Let your children mush the bags to discover a new color.

Family Homework
Directions:
- Send home a sheet of white poster board and a note telling the parents that you will be studying families next week. Ask the parents to help their children create an “All About My Family” board. Encourage the parents to include pictures of the family members, a picture of their house, and any other special information about the family. Ex. Our favorite thing to do on the weekend, family pets, grandparents, etc.
