Ice Cube Painting
Materials:
- Ice Cube Trays
- Popsicle Sticks
- Powder Tempra Paint
- Finger Paint Paper
Directions:
- Freeze ice cubes with popsicle sticks stuck in the middle. Sprinkle dry tempra paint onto each child's paper. Have your children hold on to the popsicle stick and spread their ice cube around their paper to turn the tempra powder into paint and create an arctic scene.
Seal Easel Painting
Materials:
- Adult Sized Socks
- Paint
- Easel
- Paper
Directions:
- Help your children put a sock on each hand. Encourage them to dip their "flippers" into the paint to create an arctic animal picture.
Penguin Painting
Materials:
- Epsom Salts
- Water
- Black Construction Paper
- Safety Scissors
- Popsicle Sticks
- Penguin Stencil
- Pencil
Directions:
- Help your children trace a simple penguin shape onto their paper and then cut it out.. Mix Epsom salt with warm water until it forms a paint consistency. Have your class use the popsicle sticks to paint with the Epsom Salts. When the salt mixture dries the penguins will look shiny and icy.
Snow Painting
Materials:
- White Glue
- Shaving Cream
- Blue Paper
Directions:
- Mix equal parts glue to shaving cream with a blender. Scoop the mixture onto a sheet of dark construction paper and finger paint a winter scene.
Snowman Pictures
Materials:
- White Construction Paper
- Paintbrush
- Glue
- Shredded Coconut
- Snowman Stencil
Directions:
- Have your children trace a Snowman stencil onto their paper and then cut it out. They can then paint their snowman with glue. Once the snowman is covered in glue, sprinkle coconut over it to create a snowy effect.
